Emmett Kelly is a man about town. He’s played on every recent Bonnie “Prince” Billy record, engineered, produced, and performed as the entire backing band on the new Angel Olsen album, and been “heavily involved” in dozens of other projects in the weird folk scene. He’s a man who loves music with every fiber of his being, and that comes through on tracks like this. Oh my god that guitar flourish cuts me deep.

I had the extreme good fortune of seeing BPB and Emmett Kelley play McCabe’s in Santa Monica a couple years ago. It remains one of the magical music highlights of my life. This guy’s got that thing. He makes music that turns your brain on.
