Who gives a f*ck about an Oxford comma?
Vampire Weekend has clearly taken the indie music world by storm, and is quickly rising on the mainstream radar. And for good reason! These guys are great. Sure they’re a bunch of rich white kids from Columbia who are heavily influenced, shall we say, by a smattering of recognizable world music styles. But, IMO, this band represents one exciting off-shoot of mash-up culture. While they aren’t sampling directly (I don’t think), they are extending pieces of existing work, and combining the parts into new creations that are entirely original.
I speak only for myself, of course. But to answer the question: I give a f*ck about an oxford comma! And that’s not the only reason I like this band.
