Francis Bacon: A Triptych - In Memory of George Dyer (1971)
I saw the Francis Bacon retrospective at The Met today and it shocked me out of my boots.  If you’re in New York, don’t miss it.
This is a reproduction of a three-painting piece in memory of his lover and companion, George Dyer, who committed suicide days before a career-defining show for Bacon in 1971. He painted this piece in the following weeks. It is tragic and stunning. Click through for the full size.
At The Met, NYC, through August 16.
