Weathervane Launch Party TONIGHT!
If I were in Philly today, I’d go out to support this cool local organization. Check their mission statement:
Weathervane Music Organization collaborates with emerging and established independent musicians, record producers, film-makers and video-makers to produce and promote a wide range of innovative contemporary music and music related video productions. Through this, we hope:
- To celebrate and support independent music and the artists that make the music (Philadelphia-based, regional, national, and international).
- To improve our cultural landscape with music that challenges, stimulates, entertains and enlightens those who hear it.
- To strengthen our society’s understanding, appreciation, and desire to seek out and support sophisticated music.
- To establish the Philadelphia region as a destination for music production, and shine a positive light on this great city and the independent music community here.
- To pioneer the new paths to non-profit support for contemporary independent musicians.
- To provide a complete package of experience and opportunity that is educational for all involved and transformative for their careers.
We’d love to see you out tonight at Kung Fu Necktie, in Fishtown (Front and Thompson Sts). The night begins at 9pm with some video screening, music listening and then good old live music from the Armchairs and Papertrigger.
Tonight’s a benefit (admission is $10), so please bring lots of friends! We’ve recently added up the costs we’ve incurred so far and it’s off the charts! Nonetheless, we really hope that finding and promoting a unique group of independent musicians is something people will appreciate and support. Coming out tonight to Kung Fu Necktie will make you officially some of the first true supporters!
Tonight we’ll also have prints of Mark Pernice’s hand screened commemorative poster. They are signed, limited edition. We got 100 of them. In a couple years maybe they’ll be a hot commodity? Mark is an amazing artist. We’re selling them for $30! Get one for all your family members, while you’re at it! The Holidays are closer than you think!
We’re also taking pre-orders on a second poster in the series that Mark has recently completed. Here’s a shot of both:
We hope to see you all tonight!
Love, Brian
