Tom Waits - Satisfied
Tom Waits’ first album of new material in seven years drops today. Bad As Me shows the 61 year-old statesman of rock n roll crooning and reflective on one track, and ready to brawl on the next. While Waits demonstrates his range, his whiskey and gravel voice is unmistakable from beginning to end.
The all-star cast came out for this one, with appearances by Keith Richards, Les Claypool, Flea, bluesman Charlie Musselwhite on harmonica, Augie Meyers on keys, and David Hidalgo of Los Lobos on guitar. Richards, Claypool and Musselwhite guest on this rollicking tune with some trademark Waits lyrics:
Roll my vertebrae out like dice
Let my skull be a home for the mice
Let me bleach like the bones on a beach
I’ll be hard like a pit from a peach
Now the ground has a branch
Now the hound has a ranch
